Companies have a lot riding on an employee’s overall effectiveness. Faced with an onslaught of new competitors with lower barriers to entry, businesses know that they need to get the most out of every employee every day to stay on top. Since many employees work on the front lines of commerce–outside the direct supervision of their managers—business leaders need people who can, and will, step up to the plate in any situation. They need workers—both sales and support personnel—who will own issues, who will intelligently innovate, eagerly collaborate, and who will grow and evolve as market forces dictate.
